Nicole DeKort

When Nicole turned 50 years old in 2022, her family doctor suggested she begin her breast cancer screening annual mammogram. To her surprise, a small tumour was found and Nicole was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer. She underwent a lumpectomy, followed up with chemotherapy and then radiation treatments – which all took place from November 2022 to June 2023.

Nicole also happens to work in the medical technology industry as the President & CEO of Medtech Canada – the trade association that represents Canada’s medical technology companies. Nicole is grateful that the health care system and the medical technology industry saved her life with early detection and great treatment – and has a strong appreciation of how medical technologies contribute to saving the lives of those diagnosed with breast cancer.
